What We Provide for Students
Our audio and braille books empower print-impaired
students. They afford independence and bring students to a place where reading
can be about fun, adventure and exploration. When students enjoy reading, they
begin to read more, develop more language skills and do better in school.
Kids can check Illinois KidsZone for games, booklists, homework help and summer
reading program information. They can also order their own books from our
user-friendly online catalog.
TBC resources include: Audio and braille books by mail; PlayAways, self-playing
portable digital audio books; InfoEyes, online reference assistance designed for
individuals with a print impairment; TumbleBooks, an online collection of audio
and text size-adjustable large print books including classics, nonfiction and
fiction titles for children and teens; and downloadable audio and braille books.
We also motivate students to read throughout the summer with our statewide
summer reading program for kids and teens. Participating students can earn
prizes for reading books and magazines in print, on audio or in braille.
